About the event
Want to get involved in the technical side of theater? Interested in the people behind the scenes of live theater? This course is recommended for anyone interested in understanding all that goes into making a performance happen.
This class is designed to prepare you for the world of stage management.
A good stage manager is both creative and organized, and we will go over the many skills and tasks a stage manager is called on to provide. We will cover the all necessary responsibilities: scheduling, script breakdowns, blocking notation, managing rehearsals, building a stage management kit, creating a prompt book, calling cues, running a show, and more. We will also talk about the aspects of communication and collaboration that stage managers facilitate.
We have designed this course to be general, you can take what you learn to any theater and apply your skills there. All necessary materials will be provided to you as part of the class.
